Just looking at the playfield and art work makes me want to play it. I have not had a ton of time on it, but would like it in my collection one day.

A fun game. The ramps and the captive ball right in the middle, combined with the wide spacing of the flippers, make this game's difficulty a little malicious. It's a reasonably fun game but it doesn't stand out against other games of its day.

Amazingly fun game, lot of humor (video mode), great sound, an overall fun non-licensed Williams game. Feels a lot like a whacky system 11 game but with a DMD... The fish playing drums "replay" animation is very chuckle-worthy.

Great game, fast and fun. Not too deep on the rules, catch fish and try to stretch the truth about how big it is.
Great quotes. "Are you gonna talk or are you gonna fish?", "Gone fishin, leave a message.. beeeep"
The rock the boat, u-turn ramps are fun and relatively easy to master. It has a video mode where you shoot boats and jet skiers.
The fish flapping topper fits right in with the game, just fun redneckish humor about fishing. Oh yea, you spell "L I E" for your multiplyer bonus. good stuff

I always come back to this game in my home collection. It never gets old and frankly am a little surprised it is not rated higher. It could be the most true, pure, fun, pin I have played/owned.

Just got one of these now. Boy was I wrong. This game is sweet! Blazing fast and fun. Scoring is a bit odd and took a read through to understand what you’re supposed to do doing, but I love it. The game is pretty damn brutal. Python is awesome, and his games are always legendary. Mark Ritchie has the center-ramp obsession that always seems to work out.

Solid game, loads of fun. I’m very glad I got one despite not being a fan at first.

August 1st 2019:
I think I'd need to play this game for an hour or two to really start enjoying it. Playing a few quick games I found it fun but lacking. Seemed sorta overhyped, and a bit repetitive.

Underpriced game, for sure. The ruleset and fun factor are top notch. I can only assume this doesn't cost more due to the theme of fishing. I love fishing...but I'm not so sure the rest of the pinball community does. This is one of the best values in pinball.
My only con would be the fish topper can go crazy and get annoying.

In my collection, games come and go. I've owned this one for more than 7 years. It's a beautiful game, fully restored. What is it that makes Fish Tales a keeper (no pun intended)? I think it's a combination of the Chris Granner music, the whimsical artwork by Pat McMahon, and the overall design and gameplay by Mark Ritchie. Some people are turned off by the double boat ramp right smack in the middle of the playfield. It's tempting to shoot that ramp over and over (it's a satisfying shot), but it's high risk. Not a super deep game, but deep enough to keep you coming back. Catch fish, stretch the truth, catch a monster fish, rack up points in a feeding frenzy, visit the clubhouse to start a tournament, master the different types of fishing... super fun.

Good game. Simple in terms of depth. Great for multi people playing at the same time. It reminds me of mousin around but a little better. Won't last in a small collection

I finally got to play Fish Tales and it didn't disappoint. Loads of shots, and fun overall experience. I feel like it's a good comparison to No Good Gofers, which I think is awesome. I very much look forward to playing it again after putting several games on one today.

This game is a blast! It’s a fantastic multiplayer or tournament pin. It’s not on my list to own, but I’m always excited to find it on location.

This game rocks the boat! The theme integration is on the hook. Fun, fast, funny, and the fish topper knocking around during game play rounds out the excitement!! Where else are you going to see a fish playing the drums? Cast again and again because this game will keep you wanting to play another game.

Even if you don't like fishing it's still a blast to play lots of fun when you're gone for the big one

The first game I bought. It was in really bad shape so I did a complete restauration. I bought it because I always played this game when I was in the army. I had only good memories and I was not disappointed. I still love this game today. It's a great overall package. Not too much variety, not the best shots, not the greatest rule set of all time, not the best art. But always really, really fun to play. I will never sell this game!

Fishtales is a classic. There are many ways to score on this game. Chris Granner did an great job with the music and I love that flapping fish. This game Pops when it has been restored. The artwork is phenomenal one of the best. Its a great multiplayer game as ball times are normally short. Getting the Super Jackpot is very rewarding and probably the hardest Multi Ball out there.

Video Mode is the best. This is a very fast game make sure it has those lightning flippers on it. I prefer this to most A Listers. Don't like the game ? Learn to play Pinball.
This one will never leave my collection.

The wide open center of the table, tendency for the ball to go down what feels like an overly large gap between the flippers, and the ease of a drain when not making it all the way up the ramps have made this a table I have zero interest in ever getting any good at.

Fish Tales is a fun game that I keep coming back to. This game has very short ball times, and is very difficult. However, I can't help dropping a couple of quarters in every time I see one. Shooting that crossover ramp just feels good. It also has a relatively simple rule set. This seems like a very well balanced game, and a good came to test one's skill one. The most controversial thing on this game has got to be the soundtrack, but I like it. Fun game!

Update: I now have my very own fish tales table! The game is a lot more fun when you understand the rules and I really enjoy the games short ball times. Sometimes you want to go on an epic adventure and sometimes you just wanna see if you can get a multiball. Great game!

I've owned this machine and I'm sorry I sold it. This is truly an entertaining machine. Some people are irritated by the music but I think its great and fits the theme well. The playfield is tight and the shots are fast. Fun video mode and if you like fishing you will love Fish Tales! I miss mine and want to get one back in my collection someday.

My first pinball machine purchased after researching and reading reviews here on Pinside. And I must say I find it hard to imagine a better value for money bargain. In my opinion it almost equals my The Addams Family game.

The game is fast, have dopamine-rewarding shots and has a great flow, except when you are not totally focused, which can end up with a lot of hitting the rubber posts, not scoring anything. But that depends on skill and the machine is so rewarding when you have your game going on. The gameplay is great with so many strategies you can choose and go for when opportunities open. Take your time to learn the shots, combinations and timing and you have fun for so many hours. I know some reviews find the machine shallow, but I take a different position on that. My biggest con with this machine is the outlanes with drains a lot, many times unprovoced.

I am a BIG fan of the theming not being a music or movie inspired pinball machine, letting designteam be 100 % creative and free to design with a passion put into the machine. I find the playfield beautiful with its cartoonstyle theming and the colours harmonic to look at, complimentes in a great way by the lighting. Same goes for the backglass and the topper is a good catch for this machine. The cabinet seems to be very vulnerable to sunlight and I will need to find a cover for protection when exposed in the summertime. Animations are spot on and the videomode gives a good break/variation.

The machine has great humor to it, especially thanks to the speech. My girlfriend is not a big fan of the noise the fishtopper makes (I am), but it can be shut off. Also the sounds when adding on different bonusses is mixed poorly but apart from that it matches the theme perfect. If you like banjo - buy this machine, 'cause it is impossible to ignore. I respect people having a turnoff on the music, but I find it a good match for the theme and mood for the machine. Even playing a lot I am not bothered the slightest.

I played this game a lot since I purchased it two months ago and it still has a freshness to it. I don't suspect I will let it go again. I am just playing with a smile on my face all the time.

Owned this game for a while now so I have spent some time on it. Theme is what i liked about it but in the arcade I was disappointed by the play. Luckily, I got this for a trade and really have enjoyed it. It has some great shots, can be challenging but is a lot of fun if adjusted properly. My kids really enjoy it as well. I’d recommend it
