This is my favorite EM as it stands out against so many of them. The "one more game" factor is insane, as the games are so fast and you always want to try and roll the score.

Non pinball players like my wife love this machine over some of the best DMD games as it's simple for them to understand, it levels the skill gap a bit more because the game is brutal.

Plexiglass playfield makes the game super fast, and the integration of the hydra dragon heads really creates satisfying shots with the "WAAAHH" sound.

Art is simple and lovely.

Lit pop bumpers are the main source of points, but not killing the dragon heads first will cause you troubles going for this strategy.

It's a simple EM, with some interesting challenges. You'll come back for more games with this one.

I instantly fell in love with this game. Trying to take down all the dragon heads is simple, but unique and very addicting/entertaining. The art is really strong. Even though it is an EM it still manages to create a dragon like sound when you hit the heads.

The outlanes catch you off guard at first but then I appreciated their unique quality.

One negative to the rules, defeating the dragon should be worth more points. My highest scores were without defeating the dragon.

I believe this game can be mastered with skill and don't agree when people say games like this don't belong in tournaments and are just slot machines. If you ask me they take more skill than a new stern where many shots are easy to make over and over and a game can last for over an hour.

There is something about Dragon that always makes me want one more game. Overall the game play is brutal. The suicide lanes and 3 lane on each side bottom, coupled with the pop up dragon targets that can send the ball right back at you make for a really unique and tough gameplay. I'm a huge fan of brutal games so this is right up my alley. Also, I really love the art. Some of my favorite art on an EM.

I thought the drop target "heads" of the dragons are what make this game worth playing. It leaves a more wide open playfield, but the challenge of dropping the heads to hit the targets behind them provides a two step goal. Plenty of rollovers and the triple out/inlanes always seem to give you a chance to get the ball back to the flippers.

A quirky game that kept me coming back to play when I recently had the chance to.

Its a fun game, and I keep coming back for more. A great game to work on live catching clean because of the gaps from the inlanes. Higky recommend this game for your cave!!

One "BAO!" does not a good game make.

Like many of the European-made pingames, this one plays hard, and as a by product, has little regard given to design, rules and scoring. The flipper gap is enormous, so be prepared for some frustrating house balls. The art is a confusing mix between what Gottlieb was doing in the 70s with what Bally was doing in the 60s. The game sounds like an old solid-state cash register, with beeps in various tones. It seems people are really into the sound the pop-up dragons make when you knock them down. The game's mystique is built around the "BAO" sound, and the fact that many of these games, new in box, were discovered a few years back in Canada, meaning there are some really nice examples kicking around. The game is a disappointment--all hype, no substance.

Stand up and take a BAO.

Dragon is more of a novelty game than a pinball machine. Lots of fun for goofing around but doesn't belong in any competitions.
Sounds are good for a laugh as well.

Looks weird, plays weird, sounds weird and frustrates the heck out of me. Yet I enjoy playing it...even though I can't figure out why.

I got a chance to play this at Cactus Jack's in Oklahoma City. It was/is a NIB pin CJ's found somewhere. It cost a quarter for a 5 ball game.

I watched the PAPA video where they are making fun in the machine sounds and the little dragon drops on the play field. I have a different take on it. I thought it was a blast to play and spent more time on Dragon then I did on some of the later DMDs CJ's has.

Maybe the scoring is unbalanced; I was not paying attention to that. I was busy just trying to keep the ball on the table.

A very fun pin to play.

I played this game at PAPA and it was the funniest thing. The sounds are hilarious and the machine is pretty unique. Definitely worth a look and play!

very unique and art way better than other em machines of this period.

The plexiglass playfield is crazy fast. The artwork is super bright and colorful with lots of creative nuances. The solid state sound on an EM is unique and expertly executed. The inlane/outlane setup is really tricky and gets the best of even the most advanced players. What's not to like?

Well... set to 5 ball it is pretty easy to roll the machine. The unbalanced scoring on the pops does take away from the joy of slaying dragons a bit. And the cabinet is made of particle board.

A super fun game. Its nice to see a EM machine that really stands out art and sound wise. Not a card theme, bowling, pool, etc.

One of the best art packages on a EM.

The dragon sounds and digital chimes are also make this game stand out from other EM machines.
No slingshots either.
Built like a tank. Reliable.
And it plays fast, super strong popbumbers. And the plastic playfield make for short ball times. A great multiplayer game.
Unbalanced scoring. But the Dragons make up for it.

BAO!
Hit the dragons! BAO! Hit the other dragons! BAO! It's novel, it's awesome, it's... totally not what you actually need to shoot for.
This is a really cool original game that is entirely ruined by the scoring imbalance of 10k for the lit pop bumpers. They should have made the dragons 10k and the lit bumpers 1k.
Huge center gap and frustrating outlanes that want to suck down balls that roll up the inlanes means the ball times are often short.
Quick strategy: Always plunge for the 5 rollover. 2 and 4 are death. If you have to hit dragons, hit the bottom 2 because if they are up they tend to deflect the ball down the center drain. Then, head for the bumpers and hope you get more uber valuable rollovers and light the other pops.

The art is INTENSE and bright and site to behold.

Get drunk and play Dragon. This is a party game for the whole family. Just don't expect more than simple fun.
BAO!

This one is tons of fun! I loved the raised shots in the middle of the playfield, the sounds were nice as well (dragon roar). I love the rollover targets...those were a nice addition. The one I played (PAPA) was in perfect condition, everything worked great and I played it many times. I generally dont like EMs at all but this one was very fun. It wasnt the instant drain that many ems are...and you can actually score on it!

Not a great game, not even a good machine, very easy to beat, and Dominate. Would be a fun machine to keep around for the kids and the Novice player, I love the art work, but the game play leaves you Blaaahhhh

Another surprise from those wacky Spaniards. This game is a really nice player.

The Pros:
Great artwork on the PF and the cab. Ok artwork on the BG. Top rollovers are cool. The center saucer is a tough shot to shoot and get it to hold. The yellow dragon targets are the only drop targets that I have ever seen that will alter the path of the ball on the way down the playfield from above. Very satisfying to knock these lemon colored quarter donuts down. They make a wonderful "Arrrrrhhhh" or "BAOOOO!" sound. Pirate sounding pinball is way sweet.

The Cons:
This game has got to have the BIGGEST space between the flippers I have ever seen on a pinball game. I mean... this chasm is kind of ridiculous.

The Takeaway:
Another great player from across the big pond. I had to go to Carnegie to get a change to get some time with this deck. I'm so glad that I did. Nothing looks or sounds like it. Find one if you can and play it all day. When you hear pinheads joke about "Bao!" This is the source!
