This is a decent, fairly repetitive game which I get bored of quickly. Maybe I haven't played it deeply into the rule set? I hesitate to say it, because I know people love this game, but it's too simple and silly for my tastes. Overrated, but still a nice game.

Update - since giving the AFMr time, I can definitely respect this pin more than I did in the past. The 3 bank drop target and center shot to destroy the enemy ships is innovative and rewarding to hit. It’s not as impressive as the castle on MM, but it’s still a very satisfying shot Steve Richie borrowed for Star Trek. The LE remake is stunning. The colors, the green paint, the huge color DMD, the awesome topper. This is an approachable, yet very challenging game that has great humor and a sense of style all its own.

My ratings are based on the AFM Remake SE. If you liked the original you'll fully appreciate the fantastic upgrades to the SE like the amped up sound system, metal flying saucers, larger color dot matrix panel, color changing speaker surrounds, along with the tri-colored changing main saucer lamps. The game is wide open shooting mayhem.

Great game gets even greater!

Super fun game if you're not worried about competitions. Its prophetic that they put Katelyn Jenner between the flippers. Animations and callouts are great shooting the saucer and jiggly martians never gets old. NO ONE MESSES WITH THE USA!

I really don't know what to say other than this is the perfect pinball machine. From art, theme, sound, music and play. It's real difficult to find fault in this one. Even the sound of the music calls you in. Especially the aliens' speech, which are humorous and engaging. All the shots have great flow, both the ramps and the orbit are incredibly fluid. Plus, the saucer is such a rewarding target to hit. The playfield, itself, is a glorious light show. Game play-wise, the rules are simple for any novice yet they are challenging enough for even the most skilled.

So much fun, want to play it again as soon as you drain third ball. The spaceship toy is super fun. Lots of shots, unique playfield, wide open but not sparse. Funny, beautiful, and classic. One of the best.

Attack from Mars somehow seams nostalgic and simple but it is very modern. To me the play field looks plain compared to other games (besides the saucer no chairs, gum ball, neons, etc.). My first thought was why does it have a high rating. It totally changed my impression of it after I learned the rules of the game and could not stop playing.

I like the game and I think it's fun but let's be honest if it was a new stern game that came out it would get bashed for not having enough on the playfield. While it's fun it does get repetitive.

SO. MUCH. FUN. Your goal is take out four or five saucers hovering over major world cities. Each flying saucer toy rules. They "hover" near the back with their little blinking lights and you can't help but be charmed. Beating the main saucer over and over is always satisfying and gives you a hell of a light show which turns off all the other lighting save for the upper saucers and gives you a strobe that blinks as the saucer "explodes". Great stuff. The only cons are the game seems too simple and there's not much else to do except blow up the same saucer over and over. That and you can score 100 million points just by hitting a target and letting the ball drain. I've never played a game where your final score is an average of 2 billion points. Maybe that's the joke, I don't know, but it's odd to be able to score that many points on a table. It doesn't feel like you've "earned" anything. Even still, this is a great, fun game.

It's repetitive, but that's its shtick. Simply one of the greatest pinball machines of all time. The theme is timeless and progressing through the modes always feels satisfying. This is one of the tables that sets the standards by which I judge other tables.

Short and sweet, this is the game that got me hooked on pinball in the 90's. Great design, great theme, great music and doesn't get old. For me, this is my holy grail for pins.

Fast and a lot fun. Non pinheads love this game and experts have to fight for highscores.

Possibly my favorite machine of all-time. It combines a quasi-tie-in (the Tim Burton movie, but also, the original trading card game) with a lot of original riffing in terms of creating a retro 1950's theme that feels like it should have been its own movie altogether. The machine itself is extremely open - which some might not like - but requires, absolutely requires, control shots off an unpredictable center target to fight the saucer. It thus combines pleasant gradually building modes, multiple multiballs, a progressive target towards wizard mode, and....WIGGLING MARTIANS! When well-tuned, it's just an extremely pleasant and rewarding game. It may not have all the gimmicks and multi modes of the contemporary Lawlor / Williams giants (TAF and TZ) but it stands alone among the Bally machines of its era (some of which were quite good, but don't have the same complete combination of skilled gameplay and clever sequencing).

Underwhelmed with the ramp shots and there is a lot of open playfield space but the theme completely makes this game. Defending major international cities from invasion is fun and rewarding. DMD animation is really nice and the game speech makes this game feel epic.

One of the best games around. Great rule st. Very playable and fun. The theme is outstanding and one of my favorite games in all departments. Also has the benefit of being a great game for both sophisticated and novice pinheads.

I'm in the large group that enjoys this game a lot but doesn't quite understand the frenzy to rank it in the Top 10 of all time. It's fun, and very funny, and I'll happily play it some when I can (like at expos). But I agree with the comments about it being repetitive and a game to play on location but not to own and play all the time for years. Admittedly, for me personally, fan layout games just aren't as interesting and rich as multi-angle-multi-flipper games, so this view has a lot to do with my assessment of AFM. Setting that view aside though and speaking more objectively, AFM is a really nice game.

No question about it, good fun to be had here. I give the edge to Medevial Madness in layout, theme and humour...but AFM is still a crowd-pleaser. Lots to achieve, even though it follows a simple fan layout. Could be one of the best sound packages in all of pinball.

Attack from Mars is one of my all time favorites, this is a game I could play nonstop everyday. Game rules are pretty simple and the overall feel is easy enough for a beginner to play. Learned how to control flippers on this machine because they are pretty forgiving. Overall, one of the best games I can think of. True classic

One of those titles that I never spent much time with until the past few years. Something about it never drew me in with it's wide open simplistic playfield....however, once I got a chance to sit and play this beast for more than just one or two games, I realized what I had been missing. Great call outs, fun theme, hilarious modes and bonus shots...and nothing is more satisfying than destroying that saucer. A great title that I hope to own one day.
