This game is on my circuit for when I travel for work. I always come back to it. I’m not going to stand at it and feed it dollars for a night, but always come back to play it. The 13 ball multiball is ridiculous. So silly, it’s the reason I always come back to play.

This game is way underrated. It has good flow, can go from ramp to orbit to spinner to ... Sure the 13 ball multiball is gimmicky, but it sure makes everyone smile when it comes up. I want to play again and again.

Very good Sega machine, in the top 3 for sure. Great theme, loaded with interactive toys (although some aren't really needed) and barely deep enough code.

A friend has this and we just revamped it with all new LED's and it look's great. Fun as hell to play, the 12 ball multi ball is a little insane but really fun to play.

I found an absolutely pristine A13 that I purchased. I found the DMD animations and the video mode to be among the best among that era's pins. I also thought the build quality was really good. The cabinet and playfield appearance were also among the best of the era.

The Pros:
Cabinet and playfield artwork
DMD animations
Video Mode
"Novice Mode" (terrible name) which started a single ball game with a long ball save (great for parties since you didn't have two wait around for people to take their turn.
Machine seemed to be very well built.
It's a great theme

The Cons:
The music was repetitive
The callouts were repetitive
Overall sound quality was pretty meh
The rocket shot was extremely easy off the left flipper and the ball almost always returned to the left flipper for another easy cradle and shot back into the rocket
13 ball multiball is progressive over multiple games, the ball drop overwhelmed the flippers and was only novel the first couple of times it happened
The "center eject" hole by the pop bumpers constantly got the ball from the pops and then ejected back into the pops only to receive the ball again over and over
Overall the game has a very "clunky" feeling to it.

If not for the 13 ball drop gimmick this pin wouldn't even rate in the top 300

This game came out of nowhere for me. I thought it would be another Space Shuttle..boy was I wrong! I didn't know about the rocket or the moon, but I had heard whisperings of a 13 ball multiball! So I took possession of one from a friend and now it is not leaving! It has so much potential and I want to learn all the rules

Cool theme and lots of great artwork. Sounds are great. The only drawback is the 13 ball multiball. It would have worked if the flipper strength could be boosted a little in this mode. Also a wide body game design would have helped spread the balls out more.

Shots are very tight, making the orbits and mode shots quite difficult. I love the theme but I just dont find it that fun to play. The toys - rocket and moon with magnet are very cool. The models are badly inaccurate. Much of the playfield in the upper middle is wasted.

Game is fun but gets a little tiresome pretty quickly. The 13 ball multiball is intense at first and not really practical...just flip like crazy until the number of balls in play becomes playable, then line up shots.

I like the theme. A lot of movie quotes. Play field is dark up top center. The 13 ball multi ball is incredible the first couple times you do it. I would have loved music from the Apollo 13 timeframe....late late 60’s 1970. Overall, challenging game and fun.

I like the theme, artwork, and the overall feel of the game. I absolutely LOVE the 13 ball multiball, however. It is insane!!

What can I say - 13 ball multiball is the thing that rocks and other than that the game is tired and boring for me. I don't like knocking any games because there's something for everybody in pinball - but sadly this game is not for me.

Only played for a short time, the gimmick seems to be the 13 ball multi-ball though as expected 13 balls going all over the place is hectic and not much skill can be used here. There are 5 balls that come from the shooter and another 8 captive balls are released to play and are dropped all at once. Very novel though gets old quick. one thing I did not like was the way the balls were launched, it was loud and clunky and after the multi-ball is completed the balls go through a re-loading phase. Great design and idea though it kind of spoils what could have been a much better experience. Definitely play the machine if you get the chance, but it won't be making my wanted to buy list. 6.5 out of 10

Wow, what a fun game. Let me start off by saying how is this game not in the top 50? 165 really?

Pros

-13 BALL MULTIBALL, do I need to say more. WOW, just wow!
-Rocket Ship
-Ramp that moves up
-Cool shoot ball (totally unique)
-Lots to shoot for
-cool Moon Ramp with magnet
-DMD screens swings out like door, that's different
-Great lighting
- I like the call outs including the countdown
-Only 2000 made, so hard to find.

Cons

-Boring black cabinet, not much design there
-Ramp could be better used
-Not a deep rule set, but not horrible.

What a fun game. This is a game you must play. People who come over will love it and be the talk of the night. If you get a chance to own it, buy it! You won't regret it.

Apollo 13 has always been on my wishlist because I love the Apollo theme. As a matter of fact, I own the original 1967 Williams Apollo machine! Apollo 13 has more than double the multiball of any other machine, at 13 balls in play at once! Yes, it's a gimmick, and yes, more than half drain almost immediately, but it's still a great gimmick and forces you to keep your flipper coils in pristine condition! The only downside is that every time I walk up to it, I'm reminded that Tom Hanks didn't want anything to do with it. His loss. The movie is great, this pin is a great tie-in, and the stereo sound with strong shaker motor is excellent. The excellent backglass benefits substantially from adding warm white frosted LEDs to replace the incandescents, and the ColorDMD really helps this one out. Love the unique launcher too. The standard backbox in this game looks better than the curved "showcase" used in later games. A great effort from Sega on this one.
