Had played AC/DC before, both premium and pro, no LE. I was captivated by the sounds, lightning, and flow of the ball. Bought my AC/DC pro and after exchanging the cannon motor through warranty with Stern (BTW great customer service by Stern's folks), have played it many times. The theme is well integrated with the music and other sounds. The graphics are hilarious and if anyone is looking for a fast flow pinball then this pin is for you. Not too crazy about Angus face in the middle of the play field, but it is true that when you are playing you don't see the face any more. I really like this pin and expect to enjoy it for years to come. I go for the pro's as I plan to keep these pins for a while and I really believe that the ball flow and target acquisitions are better in the pro models as the play field is not very crowded with toys. Great pinball.

Ladies and gentlemen, nothing can prepare you for this spectacle! You don't have to be an AC/DC fan to have a blast with this super fast game! Speed freaks rejoice! Stern has heard your call! After a long break from pinball, Steve Ritchie returns along with SM programmer Lyman Sheats for this spectacular music themed pin (effectively uncrowning GNR as best music pin). Steve takes a layout inspired heavily from T2, with updated rulesets inspired by games like BSD or BDK for building risky jackpot millions (using the FIRE button as an cash-in activator...awesome!!!). AC/DC pinball takes 12 of the greatest rock songs from the band's catalog, and builds scoring rules around each one; peppered around certain sections of the playfield. Lots of strategy, as you build toward the new Encore wizard mode, completing the song catalog using various shots. Some of the cheesy toys are omitted in the Pro model increasing the overall speed of the game (no TNT drop targets, etc), but is brought down in wow-factor because of the lack of the greatest toy in its LE counterpart's arsenal...the magnet activated "Hell's Bell". In place of the fiery demon within the LE mini-playfield, Pro owners get a HUGE album art depiction of Angus Young's face. Angus' sneering face is effectively a middle finger to AC/DC haters, but regardless, its a bit distracting even for fans. Finally, the LE's metal ramp used to feed the cannon from left ramp shots is missing on the Pro, limiting gameplay variety in shooting either ramps to load the cannon in "For Those About To Rock". Incredible custom dot matrix animation...new Rosie animations are risque....playing along to a ridiculous light show! To close the deal, Steve does some incredible devil inspired voice overs to smack-talk you in this challenging pin. Bonus points for Steve doing quotes from his other games (T2 & SM). The design team has learned from other music theme games, and decided to not trip over music tracks during play. You pick a song, and you play it to the end. AC/DC fans will rock out, but non-fans may get bored after a while of the music. It took a while, but with the latest updates, AC/DC pinball has been elevated to elite status among the Stern greats (LOTR, TSPP, SM, BDK, FG). *AC/DC fans in stadium cheering dot animation*. Folks, THIS is how you do a music themed pin! "Your mind on a fantasy...livin on the ectasy"...this pinball experience sure as hell is a "Rock' n Roll Train"!

This game has Steve Ritchie written all over it. Fast, furious and fun. ACDC is one of my favorite bands of all time so I love the theme. Dumped a lot of cash into this game! Keeps me coming back for more. Wish I owned one! I've watched some videos that show the bottom playfield and I don't think you miss much except some more maintenance if you owned one.

Nice, fast and addictive... Increase the sound volume and enjoy!
If you can afford the LE version, go for it, although I am more and more in love with the Pro.
I love the LE/Premium's lower playfield... here sadly replaced by this portrait (which I found really ugly !).

I initially prefered the drop targets as compared to the stand-up targets here. Now I am not sure anymore. You get used to it.

The premium is better but much more expensive... real dilemna.

EDIT: Now that the code is mature, a real pleasure to play.

I typically hate Stern pins (TSPP being the previous exception), but this game surprised me - faster than snot, tough/tight shots, great sound, awesome light show, and all around a lot of fun to play!

Reading through prior reviews makes me feel like I am in some kind of bizarro world. Acdc pro is OUTSTANDING. I have played most of the top rated pins, many of the rest....in terms of speed and adrenaline acdc has no equal.

If you are a stop & go kind of player then sure, you probably won't like acdc. But I think a good # of these reviews are coming from folks that got their ass handed to them and walked away frustrated.

It should be noted that I removed the spring and have the bell mod on mine which greatly improves playability.

This is game is FAST. Probably the fastest machine I have ever played. The problem is that I had no idea what I was doing most of the time. The music is excellent but the callouts are of no help. The TNT targets in the center of the playfield are a deathtrap with a SDTM drain after you hit them. I do enjoy the cannon toy but it does block the right outlane.
Overall, it is a fun machine worth a few plays. But nothing spectacular.. at least the Pro version is.

I was slightly disappointed with this game. Its not bad, but its not as amazing as i had hoped either.
It is not very obvious what it is you should be aiming for (despite all the flashing lights telling you what to do). A little voice over calling out what you are expected to do would help.

Once you do understand the game it is a lot more fun, the playfield is a little empty though and it would really have helped to have a moving bell on the standard edition.

Ultimately I just find this game too damn hard.

Got a chance to log quite a few games today on a pro on location. Definitely see the allure that people were talking about. The game has good flow and has some really interesting strategy options. The sound is really well done and I love that bell sound. A few things can be improved which I'm sure they will be with the code update. Overall a very fun machine already with some great potential once wizard modes etc are added.

I was really excited to find a place near my house that has one of these machines. To play pinball's latest machine on the market was giving me chills. My excitement was pissed all down the drain after the 30 or so minutes I spent on it. I gave it a fair shake and came away unimpressed.

To start, I'd overheard people commenting on how Stern's newer games had a "cheap" feeling to them. I know exactly what they meant now. The whole time I was playing it I was thinking to myself "This thing costs $6,000?". The materials used in this seemed chintzy and far from solid. As if Stern had no intention of using durable materials. The lightning targets on each side of the ramps sounded like they were going to break off each time I hit them. The cannon looks like something the creators just threw together with no intention of bettering the idea. The noise the ball makes as it rolls across the play field emits a sound like the wood is made from balsa or another cheaply acquired wood. It's apparent that they just don't make em' like they used to! I experienced the draining of the ball many times coming out of the pop bumpers. This seems to be a downside many have had. I hear what people are saying in the fact that the song doesn't change after your ball drains. That really didn't bother me that much. The game does play at lightning speed on the bottom half of the PF. Much faster than most games I've ever played. It keeps you light on the flipper buttons and demands full concentration whenever the ball doesn't make it all the way up a ramp or when it flies around the large loop. The entire arrangement and gameplay feels completely unoriginal. Stern really needs to put a lot more thought into their new games. I feel their games are just something they put out once a year despite having anything exciting worth selling. The multi ball modes on this are so uneventful. It just throws a few balls out at you and let's you fend for yourself. This isn't horrible, but to me multi ball rounds are supposed to be exciting. You're supposed to be pumped that you just made all the shots to start the mode. AC/DC really limps out of the gate as far as multi-ball goes by doing....(wait for it)..........ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! No light cue, no audio cue and no DMD cue. How boring. Probably the most boring multi ball in the history of 21st century pinball. The in-game shots are not easy and the game is overall not an easy pin. It's really fast, challenging and has great music. Being an AC/DC fan sure helps bring the tolerability scale up a few notches but you can't polish a turd. This game isn't the worst game I've ever played. It's got a few redeeming qualities to it, but it's towards the bottom of my list.

I enjoyed playing this one. The music made me angry. It would play one song and only one song. Drain the ball and it restarts THE SAME SONG.. I've been told that you can switch the song by hitting a certain music note target, but that target never lit up for me. I was able to get multiball pretty easily, but the music thing just annoyed the heck out of me. AC/DC music is great, dont get me wrong, but the SAME song.. over and over.. just made me want to drain quick and walk away.

I just couldn't get into it. Where is all them music, the riffs? It is a music pinball machine right? Nothing even remotely interesting in my opinion. Looks nice, but boring. Plus ball drains from the exit shot. Very annoying!

Played a new LED lit Pro edition, which was set for tournament play. Ball moved incredibly fast. No control was possible. Three credits lost in three minutes. I had no fun at all. Maybe I'm used to slow games, though that was the least fun I've ever had with pinball!!

Played this game on location at Gable Bowl in SoCal and left very disappointed. The sound package is solid, but that was just about all I liked about the machine.

Fun shots. Great sound. Animations are quality. PF looks sort of barren. lack of toys and anything else on the playfield allows you to see parts of the orbits normally hidden on other machines. Hate the face, but you do not notice it while playing.

Might consider trading it for something by wouldnt pay full retail.
