News, events, announcements and gossip... Directly from our gameroom, these short posts are intended to keep you up to date!

After a few silent months on the area of “new” pinball machines in the gameroom, it looks like October has blown a fresh autumn wind through the collection.

Arcade Fun:

"One of the two (to become mame) arcade machines."
Photo by: Egbert van Vulpen (click to enlarge..)At the start of October we decided to start a new adventure. Some of us (Martijn especially) have a special place in our hearts for the arcade games from the 80’s and 90’s. Many hard-earned guilders have gone into these arcade machines, only when there weren’t any pinball machines around ;-) To re-live the thrill of the 80’s we bought two arcade machines. The goal is to transform one of them into a mame machine. This means that we will built a computer inside its cabinet that can simulate most of the classic games. For now, the machine not being worked on is in the gameroom with some PCB’s ready to be played. The collection games is at the moment limited to six; Thunder Dragon, Alien VS Preditor, Robocop, Gal Girls, Rockman 2, D&D Tower of Doom and Worldcup Soccer. Hopefully, the mame project (and along with it more games) should be finished in December.

New Pinball Machines:

But don't worry, our interests haven't shifted... Not only did we buy arcade machines, for the pure pinball fans there is also new silver ball material to be played. But before there is room for new machines some others have to go. In this case the Whitewater has found a new owner. It wasn’t a bad machine, only too unpredictable to our tastes."Gone but not forgotten... "

The empty space is filled by a Revenge from Mars. The first P2000 in the Koog! A saying is that al bad things come in three. Why couldn’t that be the same with good things?
Talk is cheap, so we put our money where our mouths are and bought two other pinball machines. Junk Yard and Monster Bash. All three of the new machines are ok and only need a little cleaning.

The Storage Room:

We have decided to rent the last available room in the building where our gamerooms are located and appointed it as our storage room. The room will be used as a tool shed, and as a place to store spare parts. In addition to that, the room can hold approximately 5 machines (on their backs) so we can do some rotation in the collection without having to sell a machine. Because of this new room, no more machines had to go. First inhabitant of the room is the Blackwater 100 (which still suffers from non-working sound).

The Roof:

The roof is still leaking and it looks like the repairs will have to wait. The contractor needs four consecutive days of dry weather. With the autumn storms here in Holland that isn’t gonna happen soon. Not all the news is bad, because we hung a plastic cover across the ceiling and the leaking water is now directed to one place. With this adjustment all the machines can be played, even when it rains.

Koog Competition:

In the last update we said that the Koog Competion would start in November. We’re sorry to say that this plan has changed. Because of the roof still being broke we decided to postpone the start of the competition to January 2005. By then we hope to have fixed the roof or at least have learned to live with it, we'll keep you posted on this. Until then, you're all welcome to keep those pin-muscles loose and play some games on the new machines."Come on in and play some pinball with us!"
