hope a pinsider gets it, good deal!

not sure how much other parts would take to get it all going, the wiring would probably be one of the biggest pains.

Uh, I guess if you have some time on your hands and some clear schematics that might be fun!

Would be a real pain,Trying to find/buy all the parts,boards,wiring,plastics etc.etc.

+1 It isn't a really good deal.

This is probably more for someone with a route beater MM looking for a nice playfield & cabinet to restore then someone looking to build a MM from parts. Not sure it would even be possible without some of the harder to find parts like ball guides, etc. etc.

I agree smassa, I looked at it to see if it was worth swapping with mine.

You would still need a beater pf for the mechs and wiring harness.

As I understand all the mm parts are available to build one from scratch, but the cost would be exorbitant.

It would be far easier to find a populated pf and to buy a donor game (JM, NBA fastbreak) and just redecal the cabinet.

I don't think you'll find a populated MM playfield. Everyone and their brother wants one.

I know someone who has been looking for years. Actually, 2 someones.

I'm glad I got MM out of my system. Had one for 5+ years. Sold it for more than I paid for it, and got to enjoy it in the meantime. Sure wouldn't buy another for what it sells for now. I guess if I hit the lottery and had plenty of room, I might consider it - but to hit the lottery, one has to buy a ticket first

I know someone who is building a MM out of a NBA:FB and he has made a heck of a lot more progress than I expected! Playfield is partially assembled. Cabinet was repaired, decaled, looks amazing! But he will spend more than he would've to buy a MM - heck, he *bought* a MM to use to look at to make his wiring harness!

Good call John ! A populated PF is very rare.

I have no idea what you would do with a MM cab and play field. The only person I can see buying this is someone that owns an MM with a really rough cab and horrible play field, it might be worth it to them.

Maybe someone who really wanted the play filed bought this hoping to sell the cab for a few hundred bucks.

#11 12 years ago

how much would a playfield be? or are they not as rare of a playfield as some of the other machines out there

#12 12 years ago

I saw a NIB repo playfield go for $1200 not too long ago.

Yup. You would almost have to have a parts machine already in order to make this worthwile. Those that do have a beat up machine. This would however by just the ticket to bring a beat up machine back to a nice one though. I could see it being worth it.

It kind of like buying a classic car thats just a rolling chassis and a body shell. No drivetrain, doors, front clip, trunk, bumpers, glass, nothing interior wise. Piecing it all together would be the more costly route. Unless you had a parts car as a donor.

$1650? Seriously? People need to get over this title....That much $$$ for an empty cab.

Edit:.....Didnt realize it came with a PF. OK, maybe thats not so bad.
