Hello folks.

Have anyone done, or seen Getaways with red powder coat on Legs, Lockdownbar and siderails?

I wanted to do something with my Getaway, and I could either keep it as is, and just shine it up, I could get new chrome legs, and chrome it up, or I could, as I think I might prefer, go for powder coating it red. Has anyone seen this, and if so, did it look nice, or stupid? Pictures would be cool too so I can judge myself!

Also, if this was done, would it be smart to powdercoat the coin door too, or is that too much, and I should just leave that the black way it is currently?

Thanks in advance, hope someone out there can help me out!

Best,
Fred

Have never seen one powder coated. Doing the coin door frame in powder coat is a nice accent if you do not want to do the entire door. Please post some pics if you decide to go with powder coat.

I think red would look good but I would leave the coin door black IMO.

Sounds like a neat idea. I've seen red trimmed monopoly that looked good. I think it'd translate well to the getaway.

Alright, I'd still love more inputs, but I'm getting more confident in going through with this. Would you guys go all the way and paint the front of the backbox red too? Or leave that black as is?

You could use red t molding trim. You just have to cut theT and used double sided 3m tape. I did this with a GNR and it came out good.image.jpgimage.jpg

It looks really good. red goes great with color scheme of the art package IMO.

#13 10 years ago

Yeah, very nice. Do you remember the colour code for the red colour?

#14 10 years ago

I like the red look from the picts above... however, I personally think the red coin door is to much red.

#15 10 years ago

Where did you find those cool figurines, I would like to add a set to my Getaway.

Quoted from FrederikFrost:

The red that pdxmonkey posted uses a glossy powder from cardinal. Black cardinal P009-bk180. The cardinal company can send you touch up rattle paint cans that match perfectly. I used those to paint the plastic trim parts like the backbox parts you see.

The red is nice. Now you have me thinking. I'm going to add some red powder coating to my FT now I might just have to add some red to my HS2 also. I didn't think I was going to like it when I read the title of the thread but changed my mind after seeing the pics!

My HS2 full restoration has recently been completed after 4 months by 2 very talented Aussies,
Diamond2002 machine spurred me on to go the Red !

RA77... now that is a sharp looking HSII. I really do like the red treatment and I personally think the coin door looks best black. The red / black balance each other out nicely. Now I'll need to do mine as well.

As others have asked... what color red are you using? Also, is it paint or powder coat?

Thanks Kerry
