This is in response to that recent "restored TZ for sale" thread, where a gaggle of HEP fanboys basically ripped the OP to shreds for DARING to claim his game might be as nice as a HEP game. Got news for you folks - HEP isn't perfect. I noticed this some time ago when comparing my WWind to his pics during reassembly... didn't really care then, but after skimming that nonsense...

    http://christopherhutchins.com/gallery/album54/65_G

Dead-simple assembly error there - the springsteel on the right metal wall of the ramp entrance needs to be on the left side of the plastic ramp wall, not the right. As assembled, any shot riding the right wall will strike the ramp plastic and deflect, rattling the shot and eventually damaging the ramp.

Maybe this is the only goof he's made in his career.. maybe a lackey assembed this game.. dunno, he does great work, but he's not perfect. I played a few of his games when he brought them to Expo some years ago and they were nice, but played odd, like they hadn't been waxed enough. A bit too 'grippy.' Anyway, y'all can skip the torches and pitchforks next time someone compares their restorations to his..

Chris messes shit up . He fixes it though. Dont expect this album to be public for much longer. I think the whos who of restores is funny. who f-ing cares. If yuo stick them they bleed red. One of my favorite sayings from Bryan Kelly. I might have more money than someone but my shit still stinks.

Chris is not a god nor anyone special really. The minute people put someone like this on a pedestal is the moment insanity strikes. Is he good yes he is. Is he the best. I cant say he is. The minute you say someone is the best is the minute you rule out all other possibilities. There could be plenty of people that do what he does even better but dont post about it. Anybody can restore a pinball machine to that level. It takes time and most importantly money. Anyone can sand and clear pf's all it takes is time and money to learn how.

Just remember someone is always better at what you claim to be the best at!

wow. what an asshole. I cant believe someone would come on here to point out a flaw
in a picture that an execeptionally nice guy goes out of his way to provide as a service to all
    of us.

    #6 10 years ago

I think the constant pissing and moaning back and forth needs to stop in general. If anything, it just hurts us all.

HEP does amazing work, McCune does amazing work, that TZ looked awesome -- let's all just get along before silly flaming threads encourage gracious people like Chris to take down his videos with content that help us all.

    #7 10 years ago

    Who cares. It looks purdy.

    #8 10 years ago

What I like is that he started a separate thread instead of keeping crap in the sellers thread. Finally!!
    Thank you.

    This should go well...

This is going to go over like a lead balloon.

    PINBALL!

    #13 10 years ago

this thread should be deleted now or re-named or whatever, not good for pinball.

this is actualy worst than the TZ thread!

People are not allowed to discuss this I see. He is a GOD how dare us mortals converse on his shortcomings! GASP!

Yeah, and by going out of his way you mean you give him $5,000, lol.

Business man myself, so I appreciate what chris is doing, and his work is top notch, period. Although, I just find it humorous when people see certain companies in such a light that they can do no wrong and are flawless. Chillax and stop buying only br0and names. Don't believe hype.

Did we need this thread pointing the flaw out? No. Do we need that nonsense in the TZ thread? Not a chance.

    It's just a picture.

There is nothing to show that Chris did not reorient the flap before he shipped the pin (as he probably did as soon as he playtested it).

First off, you must have a TON of time to scour through all of Chris's restored pics and find an error like that. That being said, I don't own one of these, but I'll take your word for it that he did it wrong.
The great thing about Chris is that he probably appreciates you finding it, and will most likely contact the owner to tell him he made a mistake, and try and fix it.
The reason everyone gets "bent out of shape" about someone comparing their work to his, is because not only the work he puts into the machine, but even after you've had the machine for a while, he'll gladly take the time to answer any questions/problems the owner has not only with the machine he restored, but other questions about any other machines you might have questions about that are yours and not restored by him.
I'm pretty sure if I bought that "nice as HEP" machine from him, and had a problem 6 months from now, he wouldn't have a clue how to fix it, or what's wrong with it.

Add to the fact the title makes it sound like you're a 3rd grader taddling on the kid next to you for chewing gum.

In short, nice find...maybe I'll just call you the next time I've got a question about one of my machines since you've got tons of time on your hands...

    #21 10 years ago

That flaw is easily fixed by the new owner, who I'm sure was ecstatic when he got this pin. That WW gallery was better than porn. Metallik, you didn't link to the TZ thread so I didn't read it. I'm sure the fanboys do need to calm down, but calling out HEP in a new thread is uncool IMHO.

No, the assholes are the people who rip into others just for comparing their work to HEP. I've traded emails with Chris in the past and think he's a great guy. He is not perfect, though, and some folks need to figure that out and stop killing other people's FS threads. I can't imagine Chris is too upset about that picture.. he's probably having a D'oh! moment right now

    #24 10 years ago

Well, at least now we know who did the TZ restore !

who did it? I stopped reading it became work.

    #26 10 years ago

Total waste of fricken time. Everyone knows HEP does it for a living. He's not perfect, not god, not [insert whatever here]. He does absolutely gorgeous restorations, FOR HIRE, and has done a lot of good for pinball. Dickhead move digging up bullshit like this, he didn't say the TZ was crap compared to his did he????

Nope, that's an ASSumption on your part. Actually, that WWind is the only album of his I've ever gone through. My WWind was disassembled for 5 years and I wanted to check some pics before putting it back together. I remembered that oopise when reading all the crap people were giving on the TZ thread.

    #28 10 years ago

If your looking for perfect in this world- good luck with THAT! HEP does real nice work.

I'll bet $1000 that it was fixed before it left the shop.

    This thread is worthless.

    #30 10 years ago

Thanks. The games are pictured BEFORE they are play tested in order to eliminate any dirt etc.

BTW I tried to be nice and stay out of the TZ thread but as an FYI flipping that flap took just a second but I doubt the TZ seller will have as easy a time putting the ground braid on the correct side of the head of that game.

    #31 10 years ago

At the very least, thanks for starting a thread I can refresh every few seconds with new stuff to read.

I had found myself bored and looking at the tragic wiki story of Dana Plato's troubled life, (go ahead and do it, you know you want to...) so this is refreshing.

If she had lived, it was only a matter of time before she ended up doing porn. It was certainly a tragic ending. All three of the Drummond children suffered poor fates. At least we still have Todd Bridges.

Chris, sorry to drag you here, but if your posse is going to act like asses to people who try to sell restored games from entities not named Chris, I (and others) are gonna call them out on it. This isn't about you, it's about them. They destroyed that dude's TZ thread with no justification. If it takes photo evidence of your mortality, so be it

The nutty reactions to my post alone speak volumes..

Oh, post-to-reply time was just 30 min.. I expect your posse alerted you to this blasphemy post-haste...

Nothing like engaging in asshole behavior to protest asshole behavior. Assholes abound!

Chris, all I've ever done is call out your fanboys for being asses. Good luck finding any evidence to the contrary. We exchanged pleasant emails a few years ago about this, and I haven't heard from you since.

If you are of the attitude that your fanboys' behavior is acceptable, than I do indeed have a problem with you.

If you are pissed because of this thread, then I apologize for dragging you into the mess your fanboys create.

Was the ASS part in assumption capitalized on accident or purpose Mr. Clever???

As for the other TZ thread, I never commented or read it all, but I saw the title was changed, and I don't think he was doing it to be a jerk-just to say it was super nice.

And amazingly, when you did your reassembly, you went to HEP to make sure you put it together correctly...

Good thing you looked at the "before" pics genius...you should probably take a time out from typing for a while.

But you didn't make it about "them", you made it about Chris. You're acting like a b!7¢# to the man when he didn't say boo. That's a low f---ing move. So yeah, you're probably going to get dogpiled, not because Chris needs a white knight, but because you're being slimy towards someone who's gone out of his way to share with the community. He's gonna get paid his prices for his work without shooting video and taking the time to share tips with people.
