Quoted from Pinballmike217:

this game is just an interesting period piece.

Are there really pics of chicks on their periods?

I was mildly interested, but if that is the case, forget that!!!!!!!!!

A "period piece" means art that places something into a certain time period, not broads menstruating.

I hope you were joking, but for some reason I don't think you were.

There are no menstruating pics in the Sexy Girl game (at least in cartridge #1).

Sheesh.......

Quoted from vid1900:

I have not read the English translation yet, but apparently the different bonus levels advance to different levels of nudity.

I'm pretty sure this is not the case... My firm understanding is that there were three different cartridges available for the projector which had different degrees of nudity (very like Stern's Playboy). The degree of nudity doesn't change as the projector advances, you have to change the projector cartridge out totally for that...

Quoted from Pinballmike217:

You'll be bored with the slide show after three games.

I doubt you'd be able to scroll through the whole 200pics just once in three games, let alone enough times to be bored with them Personally I think the kitch-ness of these 70's pics is what makes them attractive, and the nostalgoia... I don't think I'd ever get bored of them myself... it's all down to taste... I know what I'd get bored of a LOT quicker: No slide show (aka Playboy).

Quoted from vid1900:

Original working projectors are selling for $2500+

Holy shit!! I paid £163 for my complete game with projector!! (about $260)... Not sure if it works though, it's a project, that's for sure!!

Quoted from cichlid:

That HAS to have been a joke dude, no-one can seriously think 'period piece' means women having periods!!

By the way, go here to see a nice selection of those projector images:

http://pinside.com/pinball/archive/sexy-girl/gallery/playfield

A question to those in the know about this game: Was there an official cabinet artwork for it? The one I have is sprayed silver and black with a spray that has a kind of 'cracked' effect where the sliver appears as the cracks, if that makes sense... It's far from the most attractive cabinet artwrok!! No idea if it's original though...

Did Arkon take Playboys and then convert them and simply spray over the Playboy cabs??

I know of 2 different cartridges for the game, but both seem to have a range of pictures from no actual nudity all the way to topless.

As you can see from the schematic, the projector is advancing pictures from the 5 broads on the left, but is using the 2x,3x,5x bonus light circuit to do something else with.

Also the projector is using the "game over" lighting circuit to turn off the projector lamp.

Crow Jones says there were at least 3 versions of this game.

1. Version that converted Silverball Mania into a "Sexy-Girl Delux"
2. Version that converted Playboy into "Sexy-Girl"
3. An already converted game of Sexy-Girl based on a Playboy, but with Gottlieb pop bumper bodies, custom pop caps and red drop targets that spelled GIRLS.

I thought the conversion of Silverball Mania was into a game called 'Magic Picture Pin' which wasn't girl related at all, but did have a projector, but projected images of...???

Does anyone know if there was an official artwork for the cabinets of Sexy Girl?

Hey guys I have been told that Sexy Girl was sold as Bally conversion Kits within the USA only! They were sold to convert Bally Playboys and featured a modified version of the original slides. These only show faces and boobs etc. They were built thru an agreement with Bally and Heff and others.
Upon release they were not picked up by operators because they were very hard to site due to obvious reasons.
Eventually all the other kits were on sold to another company that converted any type of Bally SS games and these were sold throughout Europe but mainly Germany. This is why that the Sexy Girl manuals are in German. Maybe that is also why three companies take credit. Arkon Automaten of Germany. Ranco of Switzerland (film and vision) and Bell coin matics of Italy the (installer)
These cabinets were decorated with a silver and black panther type print. But the best thing is these games did not censor the slides they included very few face shots and lots of boobs and bush and some are very arty etc. These games are way more collectable than the playboy kits as they were often sited in undesirable places and a lot were ruined.
I have both cartridges but I have heard rumours of maybe one more but this is hard to confirm…For some reason. Ranco left their name of the European cartridge Anyway I stand to be corrected … Ian..

wow, that silverball conversion really throws a confusing loop as art goes. I like the looks of it tho. But it looks more CFTBL looking than sexy.

Mark Clayton did some extractions of the Film Loop & captured all 190 Sexy Girl Images from the cartridge (there were originally 3 different cartridges)....
You can view Mark's images here:

You can also see what he did to capture the images (took apart his projector to do it):

So what was Heffs role in this agreement? Supplying the pictures?

What was Bally's role?

Why no English manual then?

The manual also has conversion info for Strikes and Spares, Lost World.

I've got a translated manual coming, I'll post it here if the owner allows it.

It looks like the "alligatoring" trick where you put oil paint over damp latex paint.

This also shows a different alligator pattern, so they probably were not stenciled.

Hef had Nothing to do with the Sexy Girl project & neither did Playboy. The Sexy Girl Conversion Kit was designed to be used with a Playboy Pin as the "base pin"...when you were done with installing the kit there was nothing Playboy about it other than a a repainted cabinet & the Backbox Wiring.....

Hey STU you are probally right.
One thing that bothers me though is a promotional photo on the Pinball Database.. If Playboy cabinets was used as the picture shows....then HEFF and his tradmark Playboy were involved..

#70 11 years ago

Playboy owns the copyright to Ann Pennington as she was a Playboy Centre Fold in March 1976.
I cant imagine Heff allowing the reproduction and use of copyrighted pictures without licencing fees and contol over future use..

#71 11 years ago

well, they were made international, and there is plenty of games made with copywritten artwork without permissions. Gieger did it all the time.

Quoted from Stu:

That's what I thought.

Seemed like nonsense when neither Bally or Playboy trademarks appeared anywhere on the Sexy Girl art.

How about some good, glass off pictures? And some pics of the whole machine?

Can you see the old Playboy stencil under the alligatoring? Is the old Bally certificate still behind the cash box?

I would be more than happy to assist... the only snag at the moment is that the game is kind of trapped behind a multitude of other games and household crap that's all in storage 'till I sort myself out with a house (currently renovating) and a games-room (plans not yet even approved by the council)... It's going to be a long while 'till I get to the point of actually excavating this game and many others... but if it does get near the front as a result of any intermediate shuffles, I'll be sure to pull it out... The head is easy to get at by the way if there's anything in there of any interest...

Here.. mine.
Originally was a strikes and spares..before it was converted. The stencils were applied to thes cabinet and are visible in parts due to wear especially around the plunger.(see pics) It has the original European brown film loop that is quite rauncy porn for 1980..
I also have a USA kit , playfield, glass, projector and blue flim loop which is very mild compared to the European version. I am presently preparing a cabinet complete with red Playboy decals..

Enjoy

Those are the best side shots of the game on the entire net! Thank you!

If I can bother you for one more shot: How about a glass off, square on shot of the apron art? I can never read the printing or even tell what it says.

Thanks again!

I'd like to see those shots.

The blue film loop is tamer than a housecat.
