I'm in the middle of my first restore on a Pinbot I got last year.
I'm having a problem installing the repro vortex ramp.
The flap on the bottom of the vortex ramp sits about a ¼ inch above the playfield.
I haven’t seen anything on the forums about there being an issue with these.
So what do you guys think before I ruin the ramp with a dremel tool?

Keep searching. I am redoing a pinbot right now too and recall reading something about this issue somewhere.

Read thru some of that.

You may have to just bend it down a bit.

Also check to make sure the metal part is sitting in a little groove on the playfield. I recall mine having a little notch set out for it.

I would predril two wholes for the normal ramps screws and screw it down. If all else fails.

Blackbeard, did a little more searching and found this thread on rgp.

This guy goes into great detail about the design of the ramp.
This part here really describes the problem.

the original ramp plastic has a decided drop down under the flap so that the flap lays down nicely.
The repro ramp doesn't have that, so the thing sits up almost 1/8" high.

Here is a picture showing the new and old ramp so you can see what I'm talking about.

I think if I just bend it down a bit, there will be a hump there.

Good find.

Mine must be original cause it seems to fit.

Good luck!

Just dremel it to fit. I had to do the same to my repro Cyclone comet ramp, way too thick at the bottom. I simply dremeled it at an angle so the ramp itself rested flush to the playfield, and the flap laid perfectly. You don't want the hump.

Thanks for the help, Blackbeard and TunaSled.
Had to grind a good bit of it off with the dremel, but it fits good now.
