As some will know, I've bought a hearse (and what a machine she is...) and I'm driving it from Chicago to Los Angeles, via IFPA at Denver. Roughly following Route 66 ... What's left of it, anyways.

So we need to fill up the hearse with Pinball machines! Machines will ship back to New Zealand and be lovingly cared for in the RD arcade ... To be played by kiwi pinheads and pinheads from around the world!

I already have one to collect from Chicago area. I don't know how many I can fit in there, but at least two, hopefully more. I will take the heads off if it means I can fit more in there.

So, PM me with what you have ... These are titles I am after, but I'm open to other games as well. Nothing I already own though, no point having two

System11s to complete my collection:

Bad cats
Millionaire
Road kings
Grand lizard - secured
Pinbot

WPC ones I'd like

Flintstones
Congo

Older ones I like

Centaur
Future Spa - secured from Connecticut! On a boat now!
Blackout

Cool!

Bump to the top in the hope of Bad Cats!

#5 10 years ago

When I heard you had bought a hearse, I had hoped it was a classic caddy, as I've wanted a caddy hearse for at least a few years longer than I've been able to drive. I'll be surprised if you can fit 2 in there, though.

What is that, a 95? What coachbuilder?

#6 10 years ago

Are you going to remove the hardware on the bottom of the back? I would imagine it would make loading pins pretty tough without.

1993 Lincoln Towncar. Not sure on the builder of this one.

I'd love an old 60s-70s one, but it's gotta drive 4000 odd miles so safer to go this way.

And cheaper

Should slide in ok on cardboard I should think. Looks like the "coffin holder" things are removable.

I would guess the guides are built into the floor.

rd.

#9 10 years ago

The rollers are part of a raised floor. It'll come out and leave an unfinished floor below. The thing that holds the casket in place is called a bier pin.

#10 10 years ago

In the drivers door jamb, there should be the Ford VIN decal, beside it should be the body manufactures label. Their name will be on that label. Some times in the side doors there is a plaque with the manufacturers name.

#11 10 years ago

So much hearse knowledge! I'm emailing the owner today for the size of the back.

Surely that area between the wheel arches is at least 4ft wide? My thinking is that two pins will go there side by side with the heads removed.

We shall see shortly ...

Sounds good! Always keen on a beer!

But not heading in that direction this time ... Straight down from Chicago to St Louis.

it is too bad you aren't headed this way, because i would sell you my bad cats... if for no other reason than to see my neighbor's reaction when a hearse pulled up to my house and took away a pin, since i've told him i'm gonna be buried in one...

Now, if you had a wicked sense of humor, you could hire a hearse on Halloween, and get a couple of guys in suits to carry out the machine on a coffin trolley. You hide in the lounge and lol at the neighbours freaking out ...

Re the Bad Cats, I ship out of New Jersey port all the time, so I can take that off your hands no worries!

Just heard back from the funeral director with sizes (finally!) and it looks like I can fit in 4 with the heads removed.

Nice!

I already have 2 machines secured ... so here kitty kitty! Bad Cats where are you??

Grand Lizard - secured!

#22 10 years ago

Good luck in your hunt. I will listen on the west coast for you.

Have a safe trip.

PS that is a excellent pin hauler right there If you do not have a passanger for the trip might I suggest doing what a local guy does around these parts. Put a fake full sized skeleton in the front seat and buckle him in.....

#23 10 years ago

There's 3 of us ... Me, wife, and 12 year old Danni who's playing in the World Champs in Denver

We were going to go to Walmart and buy some cheap black suits and cruise the USA as "funeral directors"

Shouldn't get a parking ticket either

I know of a guy in Phoenix Arizona who has a Bad Cats for sale, but it is in pretty rough shape.

#28 10 years ago

Ah my old WPT's final resting place. Looks good and a bump for a good dude.

#29 10 years ago

This sounds like an amazing trip! Kind of jealous that you get to combine an Americana trip with a pin collecting trip. I'd love to do route 66.

You just live up the road ... So jump in the car and go for it! Only 3500 miles Chicago to LA.

Hope the hearse can make it. I joined the AAA yesterday just in case it can't! Haha!

#32 10 years ago

Got any plans while in LA? We should make sure you play some pins!

Hmmm ... PM me the details if you can, might be able to make a detour if it's not too far gone ...

Cheers!

Some day. Ideally I'd do the trip in a VW camper bus cruising at 55mph.

That indeed does look like a Bad Cat! Very bad indeed!

I don't think NZ Customs would be too impressed when he shows up in the back of the hearse ...
