My First NIB / first machine arrived today (06/06/12) I still need to do a few things to it, but, I got the legs on, checked the connections, wiped down the PF, and put in four Premium Ultra-Gloss Pinballs from PBL.

I still need to put on a few layers of wax and install some protectors and a few mods. The unit is part of the last mini run and has the decals and I got the "car" instead of a second bike.

I got 27,532,920 (4th place) on my 3rd game. My wife did better then me on the first game and got like 4.9 mill ROFL.

I have some pics to post and will get those up in a little.

PINSIDE has been a BIG HELP and has given me a lot of good information

Welcome to the Tron club!!! Best game in pinball (that I have played anyway).

#12 11 years ago

I love my TRON - it was also my 1st NIB. I also got the decals and the car.

#13 11 years ago

Congrats asnatlas, another Iowa pinsider member!! Welcome to ownership of your first pinball! If you have space it most likely will not be your last. If you ever need any help I am in Ankeny and always willing to assist.

#14 11 years ago

Hello Pinballer22, I had to pick up the machine in Ankeny at Midwest Motor Express off SE Hulsizer Rd.

#15 11 years ago

Just down the street from me a little ways. I have almost bought Tron a few times in the last few months but decided to go with Xmen instead.

Dont forget if you need help or parts let me know.

#16 11 years ago

have fun with your new game, congrats !

#17 11 years ago

Congrats! Enjoy it.

#18 11 years ago

Congrats!
Tron LE was also our fist NIB, it's great.

#19 11 years ago

Congrats welcome to the club.

I've had my TRON LE since it came out and bought it NIB last summer.
I still play it all the time.

Last night I had a marathon game and almost got to Portal. So close...but so far away.
Luckily I was able to earn two extra balls within the game. By luck "Light Extra Ball" was
awarded from the arcade scoop and I also received an extra ball by completing DAFT PUNK once.

I swear by the time the game was over, my palms were hurting and I was sweating. My final
score was 81 Million. I was only 1 ramp shot away from DAFT PUNK/END OF LINE Multiball.

#20 11 years ago

My friend was looking for an older pinball machine a few months ago and during that time I was doing some searching and found that they had made a TRON. I then found out about the TRON LE but by that point it was a lost cause because I was not going to pay $7500+ for one. I kept debating on getting one from BB.com and using the financing option with their card. I kept checking their site every week. The last time I checked I found BB.com had removed it from their site. After more research I found that Stern was not producing them any longer. Lucky I found someone who had a NIB and was about the same price I was looking at from BB.com and jumped on the deal.

Yeah I had to wait like 2 weeks to get the money transferred and get the unit shipped. I got the Hallmark Light Cycles, Arcade v2.1, I am going to try to do the Recognizer LEDs on my own. I am waiting on the Cliffy Ramp protectors and the detail for the target bank. I am sure I am forgetting something LOL. I will be posting up pics soon

#22 11 years ago

Got the Shaker installed and I have to say it's pretty awesome... Nice addition to the game

I picked up a Polk Audio PSW10 10" Powered Subwoofer from Amazon.com for $100 shipped and the added bass is very nice as well. I was debating on getting the two 4" FF backbox speakers to replace the factory ones. I read that they are not a big improvement over the stock ones. So I am still debating. If anyone has first hand experience please chime in.

This is the sub I picked up
http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-10-Inch-Monitor-Subwoofer/dp/B0002KVQBA/ref=sr_1_1

I got the TRON Arcade OLED v2.1 installed and that is very cool. (will post pics soon)

I still need to apply a few coats of hard as nails to the arcade scoop and install the whole protector.

Whats this product? Also congratulations on your NIB Tron. Hard to believe alot of folks dont get the cliffy ramp protectors until its too late. Guys, its to protect before they crack and chip not for after. This should be everyones first purchase when getting a NIB is the ramp protectors. Cliffy does a helluva job making these things for our pins.

#24 11 years ago

I have my order in. I am just waiting... I am hoping to have then soon.

#26 11 years ago

I am on my phone right now LOL. When I get home I will link some info.

#27 11 years ago

Sorry about that, here is the post that people were talking about the hard as nails. It's found in the nail polish section of Walmart.

Is this "normal" or something wrong with the code ? The DMD is fine because I tested it with the diag menu.

Thanks for posting the pictures. What a great contrast between the two.
How do you like the new flasher in it?

#36 11 years ago

The Sub is freaking awesome.... I love the TRON sound track (one reason why I wanted the machine). I have the machine vol on 35 and the sub about 60-70% and the legs of my pants shake when certain frequencies hit... I would HIGHLY recommend a powered ext sub, esp for TRON...

I like it alot Very bright, LOL

I picked up the TRON PRO Playfield Plastic Protector Set from http://www.littleshopofgames.com/Plastics/zp5pro.html. Do I install these over top of the current plastics ? It does not seem like the bolts are long enough...

Under the current ones. Then flip the nut over the nylock nut will bite then.

Might be able to find someone selling their HUO for 4K since they didn't cost much more then that when they first came out. But now that production has ended and no more are going to be made NIB's are around 5K+

#43 11 years ago

Sweet, I got to SoS twice tonight. Also got a new high score (36,100,940).

#44 11 years ago

I think my next mod will be LEDs. I am debating on the CT kit or order some of the super bight ones from PBL. I am also debating on an orange side / blue side or keeping a "pure white" theme.

I was also looking at the LED backbox kits. I see a few different places have them. I am trying to decide which one to is the best for the money, or even trying to make one my self.

#45 11 years ago

Does anyone have a list of all of the rubbers sizes used in TRON ? I would like to switch out to white ones and might go with orange rubbers on the flippers.

I'm curious how you guys do this on Tron since the insert LED's are all surface mount, most on long boards. Unless someone is making their own replacement boards preconfigured with color LED's?

If you get the list of rubbers please post because I wanted to know as well.

#48 11 years ago

Great game! I just got a practically new Tron this past Wednesday. Its MINT! I've already changed out those TERRIBLE black rubbers and put on white ones (looks 100% better) completely LED'ed the machine GI and playfield inserts. Also put some always nice various Cliffy sleeve colors instead of the usual boring black from factory. I want to put on the Stern playfield support brackets and maybe a shaker motor and *maybe* one day EL wire for the ramps. Oh and I also got the SUPER nice Recognizer Decal for $8 aswell. Overall I'm SUPER happy with this game and its the closest I've been to NIB so far. As far as the rubber sizes I just took one off at a time and matched it from my white rubber stock. But if you don't keep stock the sizes can be obtained from Sterns website. Just look for parts and click on Tron and its in the *PINK* section on page p-12.

#49 11 years ago

Hey Cliffy. On Tron only the LE's came with those LED's. The pro edition just has regular incandescent bulbs that you can easily swap out to LED's (which I've done and it looks AWESOME with all coin taker frosted for GI and various other cointaker types for playfield inserts ). I'll have to post up some pics

#50 11 years ago

Ahhh that 'splains it. The LE my buddy has here could benefit from color leds in the inserts but it seems too difficult without the right equipment, ie, a super steady hand, magnifying headgear and a lot of patience
