Does anyone know if the new BackBox on Star Trek has different measurements than the previous generation of sterns?
I'm looking to have a dust cover made for my LE in advance of it showing up.
Does someone have an avengers and a Star Trek pro and could do a set of x,y,z measurements for me to see if there is any difference?

:Tap:Tap: is this thing on?
Do I have the flu or something?

As soon as they make it and deliver it, I will measure it for you. Until they do, I don't know.

#4 10 years ago

perhaps somebody with an avengers le/prem could weigh in?

#5 10 years ago

Ok here it is width is 27 5/8 height is 28 bottom of the box is 7 1/2 and the top 8 inches. This is off an Avengers Pro I do not have a ST.

Firebird - thanks.
Now all I need is for some kind soul to compare against an ST.

Haven't measured it but the metal back box has not won me over. I wish they would have stuck with wood.

#11 10 years ago

Is the whole thing metal? We looked at one in person but weren't allowed to open it up.

#12 10 years ago

Metal backbox??? That is interesting. Wico used to make those but I haven't heard of it since then.

#13 10 years ago

I believe just the back is metal.

#14 10 years ago

The back and top are metal (one single piece), and the sides are wood. Also - it is approx. 1 inch taller than the previous backboxes (measured against a Tron backbox).

Thanks Gexchange ... really appreciate it.
So the BB grew by 3/8x-0.5x0.25 (HxWxdepth).

Back, Top and Bottom are all Metal.

Okay, I was like..how did they put t-moulding in metal...

For me its Far more durable this way and makes the game MUCH less risk of Drop damage from Freight lines. Only time will tell but I don't this this was a cutting corners thing but rather an improving the product move.

Damn... look at all that room for an LCD.

Just reminds me how much I dislike those fluorescent lights in Stern backboxes. I upgraded my LOTR with a backbox LED kit, and I guess I'll have to do that eventually with ST. Another cost-cutting move that shouldn't exist on an LE. Well, I guess I might yet be pleasantly surprised...

Quick bump for this topic, does anyone know if these folded down are identical to previous sterns? Going to pick one up and its a decent drive, want to make sure it will fit as I sent my friend over to get it and didn't. But I have a different vehicle, ford edge.

Yes they fold down. I brought my STPro back from IL that way.

Thanks! My question is more if the dimensions are identical when folder or if the new back box makes it a little higher. A pin should fit in a Ford Edge(my first try) but I think the clearance isn't a whole lot so if this makes it thicker would possibly cause an issue
