Picked this up from Amazon (had a gift card from Xmas).

Haven't put it through its paces yet but so far I like it. Seems pretty well built for the price.

    Quick pics from my phone:

I have that exact one that vid posted above and love it! A lot of storage for tools parts etc.

The only "mod" I did to it was glue a rubber sheet on top of the lid, giving me a non slip work space (contact cement, before you ask).

It even came with drawer liners.

    That's the one!

    #12 11 years ago

This one came with drawer liners as well and already had the rubber coated split top.

I like the split top because it gives you a nice deep section to put larger items in; Like my whole soldering station, mini torch and Novus bottles standing up.

Yes it's on wheels and even has a nice handle on one end (the end which has the rotating wheels).

It also has a large area in the bottom to hold a LOT more stuff if you needed it.

It can also be locked up and came with two keys.

The Amazon one looks nice because you have a work table. Very cool!

And because it splits in half - so you don't have to completely clear the lid to open it.

    Very cool.

Very nice looking, wish I had some extra Christmas cash sitting around.

    #17 11 years ago

great... now I need to add another tool to the list

    #19 11 years ago

    Great set up !

    LTG : )

    #20 11 years ago

Very nice Astro, I find myself running up and down stairs to move my pin cleaning/tools & stuff as I have the pins on 2 levels. I may have to grab on of these, I quickly outgrew the smallish tool box I have now. Thanks for sharing!

    #21 11 years ago

One word anal. Wish I was your buddy so I can come over and mess it up. Very nice !

Ahhh Haaa Haaaa! You certainly don't know me very well.

Come back in a year when I've used it a ton......crap will be everywhere!

(It's got to look neat the very first time you put it together and take pictures )

    #23 11 years ago

I use buckets for tools picked from my tool box as it is to big to move.
$ tree buck a piece 15 and counting
Just throw in what you need and go. Put `em back organized later.

Oh man, if anyone wants 5 gallon buckets (Im a painter) I think I have about 50 of them in my garage right now, you can have them for free!

Too far for me but I would take them in a heartbeat i use them for my wood pellet stove
Plus auto parts / old oil filter recepticle

    You don't have enough tools!
I'd like something like that, but would also like "cut outs" in the tray liner for every tool. I've seen those on the aircraft factory floor at work. The cut outs have two big advantages. You know where every tool is all the time, and you know immediately when a tool is missing. The latter is a big deal in jet manufacturing...you don't want your 9/16" wrench hitching a ride in a wing assembly...

Big difference in weight among these three:

    60lbs, 70lbs*, and 90lbs.

I have the ghetto version. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PVULP4/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00

Not as fancy, but the same general function.

    #29 10 years ago

Here's my big question. Say I have this set of requirements:

    1) Have a great rig at home like one of these three carts we just looked at
    2) Have a great rig to tote around a game room to repair on site.

What's the best way to have something that suits both worlds best?

I've seen onsite guys put like 3-4 tackle boxes vertically on a cart, and move that around with some agility, but then when you get home, you are STUCK with 3-4 tackle boxes, and you can't see in them and get to your tools easily.

Really nice. I could see putting all my frequently used tools on top, then put two large clear plastic bins in the two below to increase storage space.

Because I didnt want to spend that much and because I dont need something thats so sturdy, I went with a salon type cart. similar to this one , yet it had slots on the outside as well to hold my simple green, windex etc. its sturdier than I thought and has worked very well http://www.amazon.com/Salon-Rolling-Trolley-Drawers-Mixing/dp/B007ROD1GW/ref=pd_sim_hpc_42 and it is very inexpensive.

I found that one at Northern Tool, it looks to be fairly sturdy..

I have a similar tool cart as the OP and the one posted above. It works great for me as I can roll it around to the game I am currently working on and have access to all my tools too. I don't know if yours is the same as mine but I had to bend a tab inside because it wouldn't allow you to either open the drawers if the top was open or maybe it was both drawers open at the same time. Anyways, paid $100 for mine when it went on sale and it use to double as a snack and drink holder cart before I installed pingulps

What's the brand name on that one? Where did you get it from?

My guess is it's the same mfg. from overseas, but with a different name on it, it sells for much less. I'm fine with that for such a light duty application. It ain't my engine rebuilding tool box!

I don't think you will find it as it is from a Canadian retail store called Canadian Tire in their automotive section. Have you tried checking your local Pep Boys, Princess Auto or Harbor Freight and see what they have in the auto section?

    #41 10 years ago

I found a couple as well. The OP one is nice as the top slides so you can access the parts inside easier.

Man carts are NOT cheap :-p

    Maybe he meant this one.

    http://m.globalindustrial.com/m/p/tools/tool-storage/carts/global-27-2-drawer-tool-cart-w-sliding-top-534155

It's $154 with free shipping. I'm thinking about getting one myself.

    #45 10 years ago

Ah, now see, that's what I'm talking about. Same exact cart, three different names on it. Prices range from $150 to $250. I'll keep searching to see if anyone sells it even cheaper than that, too.

    Thanks!

Yep....basically the exact same cart as mine. That's a good price.

    #47 10 years ago

If you find it cheaper, please post a link. I'll hold off on my purchase for a few days. I couldn't find it cheaper in my usual purchasing haunts.

    #48 10 years ago

I really like the sliding top, gives you a place to set the tools your using down, when your not using them.
