Are there any gameplay videos of King Kong in action?

#6 10 years ago

OMG it's gorgeous!!!!

+1 to the above post, would LOVE to see a solid HD gameplay video!!!!

#7 10 years ago

How many of these werw produced. What's it worth. A lot I suppose.

#8 10 years ago

I believe 9 of them were produced.

#9 10 years ago

Didn't one just sell on Ebay? Forgot the selling price...
(there was a Thread here about it)

#10 10 years ago

Is the WOZ in for a tune up? What are your impressions?

#11 10 years ago

How was the gameplay?

It was like 20k

P.S. Let's play I-Spy. I think that playfield in the corner leaning against the wall is a Totan!

It was listed the first time and sold for $20.1k and then it showed up a second time and sold for $15.2k... who knows with Ebay.

That was it! Didn't the seller have a Pinball Museum or something and was selling the collection?

That playfield really brightened up with the clear! Looks awesome Chris.

What is the cardboard column for on the cab?

Chris can you verify this?? At first glance It looks like you almost airbrushed / touched up the whole PF but if it was just the clear that brought out those colors i'd be very surprised. Either way, excellent work!

#22 10 years ago

Looking at the pics (specially the lamp-boards) it has also to do with the light intensity differ from both sessions.

#23 10 years ago

This could be the most expensive pinball ever just below a circus. $20k machine value + $10k restore (I'm guessing)?

With that said, it's absolutely beautiful, you don't call yourself HEP for nothin

I think I can make one soon.I actually had started to make a series on it when the project kicked off that did capture the game play but there was too much stuff going on at the time to follow through. .

That is this one I call #3 it came in a couple weeks ago.You can see the weird inserts in the cabinet.
Will likely make a video series on the restore of that one.

Not really. That is my game.I am not much of a collector but was impressed with some of the innovation and the build quality so I thought I would get one.

The restore link shows the process pretty well.It is a combination of the work done and the lighting conditions from one spot to the next.
Playfield restore on this game is very tricky definitely worth taking a look at the process if you have a chance..

Wow. One company with 3 of 9 made. I wish I had those odds.
Looks awesome. Just wish they could have been able to get the rights to make that game. Looks like it would be fun

I bet it's a challenge with each game being a little different.

Just played KK. recently... Really nice game..... Nice job...

I remember awhile back you made a post about looking forward to doing different games (as you get a lot of the same title). Who would have thought the title that you are getting multiples of is King Kong, LOL...

I believe the inserts in the cabinet light up under certain circumstances - perhaps every so many plays as a cleaning reminder, and maybe upon error?

You are correct. My BTTF has the same inserts on the front of the cab.

#35 10 years ago

The game needs to have it's roms dumped. At least to save them before they fail.

#36 10 years ago

Awesome!

I'm lucky to have had a chance to play King Kong (often, too!) fun game!

Yes this...

Not sure how someone recreated it on future pinball, unless it's not accurate to the original game?

#38 10 years ago

Keep up the great work Chris. I wish I had your skills!

Not really accurate at all, especially that God awful music. The skill shot should go to the upper right playfield to spell APE, not going into the pops. I suppose its better then nothing but its not KK.

20K for a Data East

#42 10 years ago

I have a game play video loading .It will be a bit long since I ended up having a decent game on it but should give a decent feel for the game itself and what it does as you get into it.
Will post the link shortly.

Thanks for that overview video Chris!

This is sorta OT... Did you ever do a Gottlieb Krull when you had that in your restoration queue?

No, $20k for a game that they only made NINE of, and it has a fantastic theme, and great art.

seems to have a bit of back to the future sounds in it.

do all the games have the same sounds / software or is each one have differnt beta?? revs to them?

I did not get a chance to capture the Krull game play video. It took quite a while to work all the bugs out of the game so by the time I had it working properly I had moved on to other things.

#49 10 years ago

Thanks for posting the High Quality video...love the artwork..
