I sell New Homes... great time to be in that business : o
No kidding, escrow is dead but the state of Ca. hasn't gotten the memo.
D.O.C. just hit us up for another 28 hundred, I am about ready to hand them their charter and lay everyone off and close the doors.
The state, county and Blue Cross need all the profit now so it is pointless to go on.
Looking at closing at the end of our fiscal year in Oct.

Hey trace...go here. My best friend has a company that helps businesses. www.CorporateTurnaround.com
check it out and then contact me and I'll hook you up.---Ted

I am a real-time energy scheduler/trader for a municipal electric utility. 12 hour shifts, nights/days, weekends, holidays. Odd, long hours, but allows for more days off which is nice.

Jesus! If a couple of school teachers can afford all those pins, I don't feel so bad about teacher's salary anymore.

No kids, and I've never spent more than $1500 on a car in my life. (Currently, I'm driving a 94 Dodge Shadow that I've had since before I was in college).

Also, it's not like I went out and bought all of those pins last month. (*plop!* "Here's the cash! I'll take 50 of your nicest pins...just load them up!")

You are looking at an insane amount of work that has taken well over a decade. (Buying non working stuff, learning to fix things, scrimping and saving and working hard to sell stuff so that I could afford something else to fix up and sell....etc etc etc).

It just shows that even if you make crappy wages, you can accomplish great things if you are smart with your money!

In any case, I'm very proud of my collection. I feel it is a reflection of hard work and determination!

I've had a few friends that are teachers throughout my life and from my experience there have been two types. There's the children are our future and there minds are like sponges that need nourishment and love type. Then there's the(this would be me) when I walk out of these doors I hope to god I don't see another one of these snot nose little bastards till morning they are all evel little creatures that pay the bills type.

I love my kids but that's as far as my love for kids go.

Linux Sysadmin. It's nice to have a hobby that is still technology but more physical than typing commands.

Good on you, you deserve it then. I only wished I had gotten in the hobby earlier, I could have learned earlier and fixed stuff up too. Now it seems like a pin is either shopped and too expensive, or so beyond repair it's not worth fixing.

Same story. My wife and I do not have any kids, bought my pins at yesterday prices, no way to get them on a teacher's salary today.

Kids at school don't have any idea that I have a collection of pins. One day when we had move rooms for a track rotation, I was wearing a pinball tee shirt that had the martian from AFM, I got a dozen questions from the kids as to what my shirt was about. When I do tell some of them about my hobby, I just get a weird look.

I'm a mechanical engineer at Kohler. Spent many years in cast iron, being at least partially responsible for nearly every cast iron kitchen sink released for 8 years or so, either from a tooling design or project management (or both) standpoint. Recently transfered to faucet-land where I analyze failures. It was a good change, but I am starting to realize cast iron may be in my blood...

A little late, but I'll still chime in. I'm currently a mechanical/robotics engineering student with a CAD job at the moment. I also run an online jewelry business that pays for most of my collection at the moment.
