So picked up this JM. Game tones during start up signifying the board is good. Everything works but after the tone there is no sound. Can't be the speakers, bad sound roms? Fuses good and tested . Getting proper voltage. Ideas?
I had to re flow solder on the ribbon cable pins on both the CPU and the sound board to fix a similar problem I had.
I would start by re-seating the connectors on the sound board, especially the ribbon cable.

First thing I did. Might take the DM board I have switch the sound roms and try that. Besides reflowing, any other ideas?
You can try re-seating the roms before you try a new board. Do they have stickers over the windows on the ROMs? Maybe try borrowing the ribbon cable from DM? That ribbon cable is likely culprate in some way.

Only the first two have stickers. Checked the rest. Took off and reset. Someone numbered the bottoms so I assume they are in order. This one has 8 roms with nine slots. Checked a pic and this game has only 8? Will try the cable from the DM when I get home. Will also pull MPU roms and reset those, but game plays perfect.

That is soon going to change. Pinsound starts shipping in April for wpc/dcs/95 boards. They are awesome but very expensive 335 USD. Duke of pinball also has proto boards coming soon too. For now I'll repair but may upgrade soon. The option to have a USB updater on the sound board is too good to pass up.
Eh. Just keep it original. That's a large chunk of change for features that are wacky.
