I think it's always around, but people only notice it in October!
I think it was originally purchased off eBay for like ~3-4kish? And then yes, it now pops up on eBay every now and then...
If I was going to sell something that weird / rare / unique I would probably shoot for eBay around Halloween time too!
Personally I just took the cheaper route and picked up a Mary Shelley's Frankenstein the other day

I sold it to this guy last year for around $4200.00. I was surprised that it sold for that much. I had about 2 grand in it (plus many, many hours) and would have been happy just to get that back. I assume he bought it to flip. He has been all over the place with prices.
