Hey all!

After a request from my friend, I decided to make a new translite (sans actors) for STTNG. I still need to update the LEDs behind to better match. Next time I think I would map out on the art where the lights are on the backbox for better effect possibilities.

Anywho, just thought I'd share

Update: These are no longer available

Cheers
Jeff

Note: Disregard the tape marked, that was QuarterGrabber's old scheme and I haven't removed them yet. Just go by the color

#8 10 years ago

Thanks all for the positive comments I updated the original post with a lit and unlit version and also included the lighting map for those that were interested.

Yeah, it's tough to work around the existing light pattern sometimes. What I did for my Shadow translite was take a pic of the backbox, and mapped it to the right size in Photoshop, then circled all the lights onto a layer. Then I could toggle it on and off as I was working to see where the lights were.

Yep that's what I was thinking of doing as well

I love what you did with your Shadow work btw, super cool! I was going to order a set but Alec seems to be growing on my gf... lol

Man, that is a sweet looking STTNG. Let me know if you ever want to sell it

Haha yeah she looks beauty.. if only it didn't drain like a son of a $!@#%!

Man, one of the most awesome, yet infuriating games I've ever played The lane extenders can't come soon enough.

#16 10 years ago

Jeff looks sweet. I will grab one if I get my sttng in the next week or two.

Quick, before she gets too attached to him! That way lies danger!

I did at one point consider going hardcore and just redrilling my backbox so I could move some of the lights, just to get it perfect. But I decided it really wasn't necessary after living with the first test print for a while.

Making a new light board would be very simple, you should try it.

Jeff, these for sale?

Sure, just bulbs. But I wouldn't want to design something that required everyone else to do that too.

#20 10 years ago

I'd be interested in one, depending on how much you're asking for them.

#21 10 years ago

Same here. I would be interested in one of those cool translites.

#22 10 years ago

Hi all,

Thanks again for the continued compliments and pms!

For those that expressed interest, I will be getting more printed this week based on demand, so if you are interested please confirm via pm/payment as soon as possible

Thanks much
Jeff

#23 10 years ago

You have me thinking that this translight would look good next to new ST LE translight.

#24 10 years ago

Hehe my thoughts as well! Mine should be coming in this week and I wanted to make an Enterprise Edition STTNG

#25 10 years ago

UPDATE - I managed to find a better print source that was able to create a virtually identical quality to the original translite, gloss and all. The 'The Next Generation' lettering has also been moved up slightly to satisfy my OCD.

They are ready to ship for those interested!

#26 10 years ago

stern's star trek pro needs a new translite !!!

#27 10 years ago

This looks great, order placed!

#28 10 years ago

Did I miss the price?

#30 10 years ago

First batch shipped, thanks all!

If anyone is interested in more, pm me and I'll start a list for round 2. They cost $100 + shipping.

Cheers

Thanks Jeff, you did a great job! I'm very happy with mine!

#33 10 years ago

Mine arrived today safe and sound. Installed in almost less time than it took me login and type this post. I havent had a chance to change up the bulbs yet but I can already tell how sweet it is going to be. Nice vibrant colors and quality material. I am stoked. Super job Jeff and I thank you.

#34 10 years ago

This thread is seriously lacking install pics.

#35 10 years ago

I know I know. I have company dropping by, dinner to make still. At least I took the time to let Jeff know how happy I am. I hope to work on the lighting later and will try to get some pics posted. Its pretty sweet, even when powered off. I stood back and just marveled for a few minutes.

#36 10 years ago

Here's a couple of mine. Just installed it tonight. Breaths a little modern look into the 20 year old translite.

Very nice! Can someone make a decent Getaway alternate translite? I really want one someday but hate that translite.

#38 10 years ago

Ok , you can send me one !

#39 10 years ago

This is amazing! Great job!
This one should be officially licensed!

Thanks for the pics, how does it light up? That's always the big question with alternate translites.

#41 10 years ago

Great pic bigdaddy and thanks alot for the kind words guys!

#42 10 years ago

I installed mine, super addition, the old TL I did not like, and actually stopped me from buying the game a few times. This one is much better.

#43 10 years ago

Jeffo. Sent pm. I need one!

#44 10 years ago

Cheers!

Okay folks, here it is! I thought the translite looked okay out of the box (thicker material than a typical translite) but when I put in on, wow! It looks 100 times better. Breathes life into an older pin. And this is with the LEDs the way they were for the previous translite. Thanks Jeffo, great job! I love it.

I am a happy man. Is that a new Star Trek? No, just my old STTNG with a cool new translite.

Sweet!! I ordered one for my st pro

#49 10 years ago

Yeah since you do such a good job of making these Jeff how about you design one for the new Star Trek with the new Enterprise on it. Something like the LE version. I'd buy it for sure!
