  2. That sucks scooter .. is there some way you can get your money back if you paid via credit card ?? Once or twice I've not gotten what I paid for and the major credit card companies refunded the money and they went after the company for resolution. I won't buy online or any way else but via a major credit card company with a consumer guarantee.

If you don't get resolution we need to add this to our sticky post about scams etc.

And what are they telling you on their end? Are you just being ignored? I see the place comes up in Google, so it must exist.

  9. Unless the money was for a downpayment I'm pretty sure the law everywhere is that delivery of the merchandise is required within 30 days once the money is charged or paid. At least that's what the credit card companies told me before refunding my money the few times.

Even if they aren't BBB registered they will have a record of any complaints against the company and also a rating for it. It never hurts to add your own complaint to warn others. It can be done online.

My last "dispute" was for brake rotors. The company insisted they sent the right ones but I got letters from two auto shops who said they were for the wrong version of my car. The company wanted over half the price to re-stock the item not including my return shipping costs. Bank of America refunded the money on my card and charged the company back for the product. I ended up selling them on craigslist and just having my existing rotors turned after waiting a month for a pre-paid return shipping box.

Thanks for the support guys! I have filed complaints with BBB of wisconson, the consumer protection agency and a federal internet scam agency.I am not done yet.I believe they will be forced to refund me or they will be in big trouble. The consumer protection agency said local crimanal authorities will recieve this info and asked me on their form if I had cahshiers check paper work and E-mails from House of arcades and I said yes which I do.Thanks again

Well,I received My Spiderman Pinball from House of arcades yesterday!Looked to be in good condition, although they did not ship the legs and the shipping company said they did not have them.Ordered some from pinball life because did not want to rely on house of arcades, told them to send me some spiderman accesaries instead. Will see if that happens.cabinet in good shape with 1 area on the left side of the back box with rub marks on it.Play feild looks in great shape as do all the toys and play field parts.under neath play feild is clean and neat as is back box, trans light looks perfect.the date on the play field is May 5, 2007,but the counter says 26,112,which does not seem right as their is very no ware marks anywhere and game is immaculate.

No errors on the game, looks to be shopped although I am going to have to do a little better cleaning and waxing in the Sandman area.Everything seems to be working in test mode. Not going to play it until I get the legs as it is setting on a bench now.LOL

I have several mods to install in the mean time.I will post pictures in a few days in another more positive thread.

  16. Cool deal Scooter....at least you finally got something. It's too bad House of Arcades couldn't give you all the correct hardware & you had this hassle. I will not be shopping there ever.
I finally bit the bullet and am going to buy a NIB SM with the new run that Stern is doing. I was able to get the best price from a dist. named Trent Augenstine and there were many people that gave him high recommendations so I am hoping I will not have any problems on this transaction.
Congrats on the new game and I hope you get your legs soon.

  17. Wonderful ! I can understand how you don't want anything to do with them anymore. Congratulations on sticking in there and doing what it took to get something from them.

Thanks also for letting the rest of us know your troubles so we can avoid the same situation with that company.

  18. Scooter,

What a horrible experience. I'm sorry you had to go through all that. At least you finally got your machine. You definitely did the right thing by filing all the complaints against them. The way they treated you was inexcusable, and others need to be warned. I would also recommend creating an entry for them at:

    http://www.resellerratings.com/

I find this site to be very useful when it comes to purchasing from a company I have never heard of before. If everybody rips a place apart, it's probably a good idea to avoid them. On the other hand, if they have thousands of glowing reviews, it's generally a safe place to do business with.

    Loren,

I have met Trent at several tournaments/shows this year. He's a really nice guy (and one helluva pinball player), I helped him and his g/f unload a BBH off his truck for play at the Fairfax, VA. Pinball Open. (I got 5 or 6 free games this way...lol) I doubt you will have any problems with him, as he is very well known in the pinball world from what I have seen. I seriously doubt he will give you any trouble.

Scoot - Glad to hear you at least got your game. I'm with Malador on getting the posse together and heading up to Wisconsin. Bring the old balls, and the shotgun with the 1 1/16" bore. Jerks....

  21. Still, legs are part of the game
would you buy a house without any windows or doors?
perhaps they are in another order and will arrive in a very short time?

Yes but why wouldn't the Haunted House of Arcades not inform Scooter that his game was in the transit? Especially after the actions he has taken already due to no correspondence about the whereabouts of his order? Seems like they would want to inform him as soon as his order was in the mail after 6 months!?!

Does NAVL use tracking numbers? My LEDs from cointaker? tracking number. I think 6 months has been plenty of time to give Scoot some peace of mind.

Autumnfade - I think your optimism is awesome, but I really doubt the legs will be in another order. I'm sure Scoot is just itching to set it up and play. If Scooter was an arcade owner, or wanted his machine on location to generate some income - 6 months down on his investment would be inexcusable, even if I was the only one that showed up to put quarters in it. Problems like this do nothing for the existence of pinball today.

  23. I'm sure his persistence and legal actions made them finally go out and buy a machine to send him. Possibly they purchased it from someone else who then sent it and it was never actually in their possession. Otherwise he'd have never seen the machine or his money again. Just IMHO.

The legal actions made them get in gear! As soon as they were contacted by BBB they jumped at the chance to send me the game and resolve the issue.I sent E-mails to 3 different agencies to get it resolved,A Wisconsin detective even contacted me saying that He did not want any shady business dealings going on in his district, and that he is researching them and going to their place of business and check them out.I will call him back on Monday with the facts of the delivery. As for the legs I do not want to wait any more on them so I ordered some myself and gave them an opertunity to send me some accessaries to make up the difference for the legs, which was most likely an oversight on their part as I did get the leg bolts.

At least I got the game and it appears to be in good shape, waiting for the legs to actually try it out.

Meanwhile I am modden it up-pictures after I get it all together!!

You're probably right BD. And it's not like this company is no longer in business - their website is massive. Maybe this is how they achieve the "Free Shipping" I see on all their games. lol

Hell Scooter go after your legs as well, if you've already bought a set, maybe you'll wind up with an extra set. Have fun playing! (I'll stop whining now, stories like this just piss me off.) Glad to see the flexing of the strong arm of the law got em' off their asses.
