My First Pinball Tournament

So I played in my first tournament yesterday. It was a Metallica Pro launch party at BumperNets in Birmingham, AL. It was a lot of fun and it was cool to meet some people who shared, and even surpassed, my affections for flipping the silver ball around. My wife and two children tagged along to do some shopping while I played and I couldn't help feeling like I had been dropped off at an adult day care of some sort. $10 and some change for a few hours of supervision. I kind of pictured the conversation going like this after my wife dropped me off - "Don't worry ma'am, we'll take good care of him. We have plenty of snacks and drinks, and tons of games for him to play. He'll be just fine", lol.

All in all it was a good time. I didn't finish dead last and I got some good game play and maintenence tips from the more experiened guys.

Sounds fun! I have yet to try out a tournament. Not a ton of that kind of stuff in Central WI. I do get over to Lloyd's SS billiards once every year or so. I will have to time my next visit for one of his tourneys.....

It's cool you learned some maintenance tips.

    Hi BW,
I'm 47, and have been playing pinball my whole life. I don't know why I never entered a pinball tourney until recently. I guess it just never came up.
I made some new friends too, finally understood how they score the tournament (it actually makes perfect sense), and I won! My prize was a nice growler with one free fill. I guess it's time to quit my day job and live the dream now.. Lol
