During my studies and early professional period (1980-1995) I played a lot on pinball machines. As the pinball games started to dissapear from the pubs and getting married and two kids, the time spent to play went close to zero. Early 2007, I saw on the TV news a short story about a Belgian Championship. I started to look on the internet and discovered a whole world of pinball. One month later I purchased my first pinball machine (Williams Flash '79). Not having a lot of space and my wive being passionated also, the machine was to stay in our living. The reaction of friends and family went from "what a hughe thing" to "waaw". Early 2008 my wive and I subscribed for the Belgian Championship held in Mechelen. Besides surprisingly acceptable results we met a bunch of pinball passionates. The next happening was to feel the atmosphere during the European Pinball Championship held in Kolding DK, how would it be to be amongst the best of europe ? So we went and played a whole day having fun on a lot of machines.
Recently we joined a Belgian Competition held at various gamerooms allowing to keep in touch with other passionates other than by mail or forums.
As our Flash required a big overhaul and I didn't have the time and place to do it, the machine was replaced by a '94 Demolition Man. Machine maintenance became one of my new "home-jobs". We play daily on our DM and it is fun to see friends and family to play during their visit. It gives something extra to the interior of the living.
We will continue to stay in the "business" of pinball by surfing on the net, playing games and meeting other passionates during gaterings and competitions as this is a revival of a passion.
