How is it possible that some games in pinball not get the credits they deserve?
Iam talking about some gottlieb games like surf,n safarie lights camera action, and classof1811.
In my opinion these machines are right up there whith some of the best
bally and williams games.
When you take a game like surf,n Safarie the overall art and fun rating is great.
And when you think about the price to own such a machine you can say that the costs are low.
Personnaly iam still looking for a class of 1812 and a cactus jack to finish my gottlieb collection.
If you have some tips of other gottlieb machines that i,ve not mentioned please do.
I,am from Holland in europe and started my pinball collection about 5 years ago.
I,am always looking for great games to add to my collection .
The first pin i bought was a whirlwind , that was the game i always played when i was a kid.
Not much later i was hooked on the pinball fever and bought a nother one that was a funhouse.
Now i own about 10 machines and iam always looking for new ones.
I hope that my english was not to bad in this litlle story and when you
have something to add or say about it please do.
Jethro

I think the most important reason these Gottlieb machines get less credit is because they are less well known amongst the community. F.e. most game rooms I know of here in Holland mainly feature '90 Bally / Williams pins... The machines on your pictures look interesting enough though. Ah, so many machines left I definitely need to play someday- sigh.

Gottlieb put out an incredible range of machines when it was in business. Part of the problem might be that they were willing to do nearly any theme, any layout, and there were so many different design teams working at Gottlieb over the years that sometimes the quality is there, and sometimes it isn't. One of the first pinballs I ever played was "Devil's Dare", which had very cool art and sound effects for a little kid (no, I'm not a devil-worshipper).
I've also heard stories of Gottlieb's being more prone to break-down and trickier to repair. Anyone else know something about this ?
