Stern have just announced a new machine: "Shrek".
Pat Lawlor Design, along with software and rules designers Lonnie Ropp
and Mike Kyzivat, designed the game while the artwork was done by John Youssi. Mark Galvez and Tom Kyzivat created original dot matrix display
art.
The SHREK pinball machine's main feature is Donkey's mini-playfield, a
small pinball playfield that sits in the upper right hand corner. It
has mini-flippers that the player controls with the regular flipper
buttons when the game is in 'Donkey mini-playfield' mode. The
mini-playfield has ramps and targets to shoot at while an actual Donkey
figurine spins in front of the mini-playfield.

Playfield design... Looking familiar?
Additional features on the game include: figurines of five SHREK
characters, including Shrek, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Princess Fiona and
Gingy. A mirror sculpture of Prince Charming sits in the center of the
playfield and can be struck by the pinball. Two captive pinballs spell
out P-I-N-B-A-L-L when hit; and SHREK also includes plenty of exciting
multi-ball action.
"SHREK pinball has great depth and is fun and easy to understand for
the casual player. This is a great game for both home owners and game
operators," said Gary Stern, President of Stern Pinball.
The game really stands out through the use of green-coated metal parts, where we're used to see silver: Green legs, green siderails, green lockdown bar. There's alot of green in this machine.
Ok, we'll be honest with you, Shrek isn't actually a completely fresh Stern game. It's based on the playfield of last years "The Family Guy". So the game layout is the same, but with a comepletely different set of graphics and sounds. Rules will be slighly different.

Shrek is alot of fun, especially the continuous quips from Donkey.

Haven't played this pin yet, but can't wait to. I liked the Family Guy pin, so this game should be a nice one to play. Especially with this theme which should guaranty lots of funny quotes.
The artwork looks cared for as well by the way. I guess not having to design a new layout frees up time to spend on other things ;).
