“I try to take into consideration a pin's age & how it stacked up against other pins out at time of its release.
I grew up mainly in the DMD era of pins, so I wasn't even alive yet when this game was getting made. But I do know a fair bit about pinball history, so I know what was going on at the time with pinball.
& Flash, though it seems trivial now, broke some serious ground in '79 upon its release. Flash was the 1st game to have any sort of background music, which is basically a tone that gets higher in pitch the more you score. This was indeed considered amazing in '79!
& Flash introduced "flashers", which quickly became an essential part of all pinballs in the following years.
On top of being a groundbreaking pin, its a good one. Lots to shoot at (no dead space), good flow, & the game should be set to play fast (mine is). Art is, interesting. Add the sounds & flashers & you got a solid all around classic early SS pinball. Its been fun for me to restore, & now play.”

“Flash was the first game that I bought to restore. After a few months of work, cleaning, fixing, and clearcoating the playfield I had a nice Flash. Maybe because it was new to me it quickly became my favorite pin, even over my Road Show, and World Cup Soccer. Someone offered me good money for my flash so I sold it. After it was gone I wished that I had it back, so I now have another beat up Flash to restore. For its time, the game play cannot be beat. Is it super deep, no is it a great looking machine, no. But it does have that Steve Ritchie flow, and is a lot of fun for a game of this vintage.”

“don't like the way it looks, sounds or plays. i can think of countless games i would rather play. really poor artwork all around. The 2 girls on the slingshot plastics are the ugliest i've ever seen on a pinball machine. No idea why this game was popular. Skateball has a similar playfield layout and is a way better machine in all aspects.
